Fam Trip for Group from Italy

The best way to learn about our school is to experience it for yourself!

We were delighted to welcome a group from Italy for a familiarisation trip in early November. Like all fam trips, the visit consisted of campus visits, an interactive presentation about Lewis School programmes, and and other educational and cultural activities.
One of the most popular parts was a theatre workshop, where our guests suddenly became students and took part in fun drama activities, similar to those we run on our Theatre Express workshops and junior programmes. Theatre is such a great way to develop language and doing a practical session as part of our fam trip always brings a giggle!
The weather wasn’t too kind to us, but thankfully it was only a short walk to Solent University, which hosts our Southampton Junior Centre in summer. Our junior centre is lucky to be based in a very impressive £33m teaching and learning building, with fabulous classrooms surrounding a huge boat-like structure. It adds a real ‘wow factor’ to the student’s stay.
It was then another short walk to the SeaCity Museum to learn about Southampton’s connection to the ill-fated RMS Titanic, the most famous ship to grace our city’s historic port and, of course, a lovely meal at a local (Italian!) restaurant.
A big thank you to everyone who came on the fam trip. We all greatly enjoyed meeting you and look forward to working with you in the future.
