Brighton: a vibrant and arty seaside resort

Brighton - Royal Pavilion

Brighton is a vibrant seaside town with a unique atmosphere

Brighton, situated on the England’s south coast, is nowadays one of the most exciting seaside resorts, full of energy and life, as well as being historically important and fascinating!

Stylish, flamboyant and fun, Brighton has evolved over hundreds of years from a tiny fishing community into a vibrant, modern “city by the sea”.

Apart from its beach, the most famous landmark in Brighton is the Royal Pavilion, a palace with an Indian-style exterior and Chinese-style interior designed for an eccentric 19th century prince (later King George IV).

Brighton’s seafront is particularly impressive. It has a very long beach (of pebbles, not sand) and a pier with a funfair, so you can ride on a rollercoaster above the sea! Brighton Palace Pier was built in the 19th century.

The city also has a fantastic selection of independent shops.  The Lanes is a famous part of the city with narrow streets full of pavement cafes, restaurants and shops.

Meanwhile, the North Laine is a colourful area with a mix of small, independent and unusual shops. This typifies Brighton’s image as a centre for arts, alternative fashion and alternative lifestyles.

Culturally diverse and full of charm, Brighton is a fantastic seaside resort which you are sure to enjoy visiting.
