Bravo to our students!
On the English & Theatre programme at our Winchester Junior Centre, students developed their skills in singing, dancing and acting while working towards a final show. In August, following two weeks of workshops and rehearsals, they performed a vibrant adaptation of Wicked—and we’re delighted to share the highlights below.
What the course involves
- – 15 hours of General English + 9 hours of theatre sessions per week
- – Weekly trips and a range of evening activities
- – Workshops in voice, movement and character
- – Rehearsals led by a drama professional
- – A weekly open class to share what you’ve achieved with friends and staff
Why theatre boosts your English
- – Confidence: you practise speaking on stage in a supportive setting
- – Fluency & pronunciation: memorising lines and rehearsing delivery helps natural rhythm and intonation
- – Vocabulary & listening: working with a script builds vocabulary and active listening skills
- – Teamwork & communication: you collaborate and solve problems together
