Good news: the UK government has confirmed that European ID cards will be valid till October 2021.

European young learners will be able to use ID cards so next summer will be passport-free!

The extension until October 2021 gives travellers further opportunities  to apply for passports. Also agents in the ELT (English Language Teaching) sector have been preparing students and parents for the last year and more.
Passports are more expensive than ID cards, however a passport is valid for travelling to virtually every country in the world. We all remember our first passport: the exciting feeling of the world at our reach!  And what better reason than making your first passport application to learn a language which will enable you to discover the world!
Most EU, EEA and Swiss nationals will require a passport to travel to the UK from 1 October 2021. However it is still to be decided about a  “collective passport” for European junior groups. English UK said it had not given up on this possibility which could be a cost-effective and relatively simple option.

The UK government has also already confirmed that EU students looking to study in the UK for six months or less arriving from 1 January 2021 onward  will not need to apply for a student visa. EU students will be able to study in the UK for up to 6 months on a standard visitor visa.
Visitors will be able to take as many courses as they wish within the six-month period, and all English language programmes must be studied at an accredited institution like the Lewis School of English.
The important thing that our international students should be sure of is that they are always welcome in the UK and no bureaucracy will ever change that! So let’s start planning for making wonderful 2021 memories together!
