Discover Bristol

Bristol is rich in history, but is also a modern and vibrant city, and the biggest in South-West England.

It has been a port for a thousand years, and is home to many works of the great 19th-century engineer, Brunel. These include the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the ship SS Great Britain. Bristol is also famous for being the city where Concorde was designed and built, and as the home of animation stars Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.

Bristol is full of culture. There is a vibrant harbour with attractions like the interactive science centre ‘At-Bristol’; and if you are lucky enough to be in the city in August, you could see Europe’s largest hot air balloon festival.
