Saving Money – Student Zone

The cost of living in the UK can be quite high. Here are some tips on how to save money in Southampton.

Cheap supermarkets in Southampton include:
•    Asda (Portland Terrace)
•    Aldi (Bevois Valley Road)
•    Lidl (High Street & Shirley Road)

For cheaper goods, try supermarkets’ own brands, and also their low price brands, such as Asda SmartPrice, Sainsbury Basics & Tesco Value.

Cheap shops for clothes include:
•    Primark (Above Bar Street)
•    ‘George’ in Asda (Portland Terrace)

You can buy cheap second-hand clothes at charity shops. Of course, look out for sales too!

Discount Stores

•    Poundland (Marlands Shopping Centre and Above Bar Street)

Cheap Pubs

•    The Giddy Bridge (London Road)
•    The Standing Order (High Street)

Pubs often have drinks promotions on particular days or at particular times (‘Happy Hour’). Look out for these special offers!
