How to Apply for Erasmus+ Funding
EU funding for continuing professional development (CPD) is now available under the new Erasmus+ initiative, managed by the European Commission. The funding available can cover all courses fees, travel costs, accommodation and other living costs.
This enables teachers from participating countries to take part in a variety of training courses abroad for their own and their institution’s benefit. Participating countries include not only EU Member States, but also Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, Macedonia, and many others. There are specific criteria to follow, which can be found within the Erasmus+ Programme Guide.
Many of our courses in Southampton are eligible for Erasmus+ funding. Please note: if you are not eligible for Erasmus+ funding, it is still possible to attend these courses. See our prices on each course page.
Applying for Funding – A Step-by-Step Guide
Identify the person at your institution who is responsible for training and development (eg Head Teacher, Training Co-ordinator or Department Manager) and talk to them about Erasmus+ funding and courses at the Lewis School of English.
If your institution is not yet involved with Erasmus+, perhaps you are in a position to approach your employer and become their Erasmus+ representative. Talk to us to find out more about this option.
Read about our various EU-funded courses and decide which one best meets your needs and the needs of your institution. We tailor courses, so contact us if you have something more specific in mind. Learn more about Erasmus+ by talking to us and reading the Erasmus+ Programme Guide.
Prepare a European Development Plan. Your school may already have one so check first. The plan should outline training objectives within the school. Make sure the plan has a European dimension before using it as part of your Erasmus+ application. Then integrate our course(s) into that plan. Your plan needn’t be too complex. We offer help on how to put one together.
Register your school with the Education Participant Portal:
This process will give you a PIC number, which you will need for your application.
Now start completing the application forms. These are available from your National Agency. If you need help in completing your application, please feel free to contact us – we are here to help. You can also click here to see an example of an application form, with advice on how to complete it.
Please note: this is an application form from 2015. The form may have changed in some minor ways, but the essence remains the same so read through our suggestions as they will still be valid.
