Engage and inspire students through drama
Apply creative ideas to classroom language practice
10 teacher training & 10 performing arts sessions
Teaching today requires more creativity than ever, and teachers are challenged to find more eclectic and intelligent ways to engage and facilitate students’ development in communicative competences. Creative Teaching is made up of two halves, each complimenting the other, and each day is themed. Holistically the course aims to explore skills that are highly transferable between the classroom and stage.
The teaching methodology focus of the course (every morning) will importantly help teachers apply these tools for language development areas. Many of the exercises can be adapted for the classroom to achieve clear learning outcomes in students. The teaching methodology focus will also explore learner-centred teaching, materials development, and classroom practice e.g. error correction, classroom dynamics.
The afternoon sessions on this course will provide teachers with the tools and expertise to create and present drama work in English. This work could be presented to parents, teachers and other students within the school or be used as a teaching aid for building students confidence in verbal and non-verbal communication. Within these performing arts sessions teachers will experience a selection of interactive exercises and challenges that will stimulate and inspire the learner plus provide techniques to help students express themselves.

Mind: The Creative Hub
By focusing our minds and allowing space to breathe and think, we will unlock and enhance our imaginations. Working together on drama based games, we will push boundaries and discover creative ways to bring our ideas to life!
Voice: Protection, Projection and Performance
Correct use of voice can enable a more powerful and expressive delivery for public speaking, interviews and general communication. Within this session you will explore exercises that prevent injury, aid with projection and encourage vocal expression.
Body: Physical Expression
The body is often an unused tool for communication. When used effectively it can help you to express yourself and enhance interpersonal skills. Through mime and physical theatre activities we will strengthen your understanding and ability in physical expression.
Stimuli: Inspiring and Creating
Anything and everything can inspire conversation and creative play. Throughout this session we will explore how to find inspiration and create pieces of drama from each stimulus. We will work from photos, props, objects and music.
Creating a Performance
Drawing on the skills acquired throughout the week, we will work together to create a piece of theatre based on your ideas and interests. Creative presentation and stage terminology will also be explored.
